Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IBMBB), University of Colombo will conduct a certificate course in Molecular Biological Techniques from 2nd to 6th August 2010. Course will be of 45 h duration and will consist of theory and practicals with hands on experience in DNA based techniques such as DNA extraction and quantification, PCR, RT-PCR, DNA probes, gel electrophoresis, restriction fragment length polymorphism and an exposure to DNA sequencing. Application of the techniques in diagnosis of pathogenic diseases, mutation detection etc will be discussed. The course is suitable to scientists, clinicians, academics, technical officers and students awaiting higher studies in biological sciences.
Course fee is Rs. 35,000/=. Those who wish to participate are required to apply online or make a written application to the Director, IBMBB on or before 15^th July 2010. A brief curriculum-vitae should be sent with the application. Full payment is required before admission to the course. Details of payments will be communicated to applicants who are selected to follow the course.
