Senior Lecturer, Grade I/II - (Temporary) – Molecular Biology and Cell Biology

The Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology will entertain applications from suitably qualified persons for the above post up to 15th September 2010.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Senior Lecturer (Temporary) – Grade II
      1. A Special Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, Zoology,Botany, Chemistry with First or Second Class (Upper Division) honours.

        2.                                               OR

      2. A Special Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, Zoology,Botany, Chemistry with a Second Class (Lower Division) honours.

        3.                                               OR

      3. (a) A Special Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry without Honours or any other Degree with at least Second Class Honours,
                                                      AND

        (b) A Postgraduate Degree of at least two academic years duration in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics or Cell Biology with a research component by way of thesis/dissertation.

        4.                                               OR

      4. Such academic or professional qualifications or professional experience as may be approved by the University Grants Commission upon the recommendation of the higher educational institute.

        5.                                             AND

    2. A PhD from a recognized university in the field of Molecular Biology, Molecular
      Genetics or Cell Biology.

      3.                                             AND

    3. At least six (06) years experience in one or more of the following:-
      (i) Teaching at University Level.
      (ii) Professional experience.
      (iii) Research in a recognized Institution.
      (iv) Postgraduate studies to acquire the qualifications stipulated at (2) above.
  • Senior Lecturer (Temporary) – Grade I
      1. A Special Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, Zoology,Botany, Chemistry with First or Second Class (Upper Division) honours.

        2.                                               OR

      2. A Special Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry with a Second Class (Lower Division) honours.

        3.                                               OR

      3. (a)A Special Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry without Honours or any other Degree with at least Second Class Honours,

                                                      AND

        (b) A Postgraduate Degree of at least two academic years duration in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics or Cell Biology with a research component by way of thesis/dissertation.

        4.                                               OR

      4. Such academic or professional qualifications or professional experience as may be approved by the University Grants Commission upon the recommendation of the
        higher educational institute.

      2.                                               AND

    2. A PhD from a recognized university in the field of Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics or Cell Biology.

      3.                                               AND

    3. At least twelve (12) years of experience [of which not less than six(06) years should have been after obtaining qualifications stipulated in 2 above] in one or more of the following:-

      (i) Teaching at University Level.
      (ii) Professional experience.
      (iii) Research in a recognized Institution.
      (iv) Postgraduate studies.

    • SALARY AND OTHER CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT:

    Senior Lecturer - Grade II (Temporary)

    Rs.37,650/= p.m.

    Senior Lecturer - Grade I (Temporary)

    Rs. 42,650/= p.m.

    In addition the Cost of Living allowance will be paid.

    The appointment will be initially for a period of one year, which may be extended for a further year depending on availability of funds.

    The other conditions of appointment will be in accordance with provisions of the Universities Act No.16 of 1978, Universities (Amendment) Act No.7 of 1985 and Universities (Amendment) Act No.1 of 1995 and Ordinances, by-laws, Regulations and Rules, etc. made there under.

The post should be indicated on the top left hand corner of the envelope.
